Terms and conditions

The contributions to Vår framtid are later presented both at varframtid.nordiskamuseet.se and Minnen.se .

Conditions for contributing to the Nordiska museet collections

Nordiska museet documents and communicates how people’s everyday life in Sweden and the Nordics looked like from the 16th century until today. By contributing your stories, texts and images, you help the museum to build up and spread valuable knowledge about everyday life today, with glimpses back in time. All stories, photographs and films are saved for future generations and research in a common memory bank.

Nordiska museet has created these terms of use to describe how you can share your content with the museum, and how the museum collects, saves and uses your content and information. You are encouraged to read the Terms of Use and to use them to make informed decisions.

Nordiska museet welcomes everyone over the age of 15 to contribute to the collections.

About Minnen

Minnen is an electronic bulletin board ie. a service for the electronic transmission of messages operated by Kultur-IT. The terms of use have the corresponding definitions of messages specified in § 1 Act (1998:112) on responsibility for electronic bulletin boards. What is published on Minnen counts as messages, including the photographs, video and audio uploaded by users.

Personal data and your rights

The terms of use have the corresponding definition of personal data as stated in the data protection regulation, General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679).

By registering and agreeing to the terms of use and these paragraphs, the user accepts that Nordiska museet registers the personal data requested during registration. The Nordiska museet undertakes to process personal data and other information in accordance with current data protection legislation.

Personal data may not be posted on Minnen if it conflicts with data protection legislation.

The processing of the collected material takes place on a legal basis and with the support of a public interest.

In accordance with current data protection legislation, you have the right to access information about which personal data we process about you and the right to request correction of your personal data.

Read more about how Nordiska museet handles personal data in the museum’s  privacy policy .

Archiving and publication

Nordiska museet conveys and communicates the collected material to the public, through exhibitions and publication on the internet and in social media. The user can make an active choice which means that the user’s messages are not published on Minnen but are only forwarded for research.

Messages and personal data submitted on Minnen are considered to have cultural and historical value that must be managed and preserved for future generations as well as for historical and scientific research purposes. The material thus becomes part of the museum’s cultural history archive.

Selection and thinning

Nordiska museet reserves the right to make selections in the received material before archiving, for example, contributions that have inappropriate content that is against the law will not be saved (see below). If many similar contributions are received, selection can also be made for this reason. All approved contributions are saved in the Nordic Museum’s archives.

Personal data and other material may be thinned out if it is no longer deemed relevant to preserve.

Publishing, Licensing and Copyright

The basic idea with Nordiska museet collected material is that it should be as free as possible, for us and others to reuse. By specifying a Creative Commons license, you specify how your contribution may be used. At Minnen, the following two licenses are used: CC-BY and CC-BY-NC. CC-BY means that others may reuse your text and your images, sound and video freely, but must state you as the author. CC-BY-NC means that others may reuse your text and images, they must indicate you as the author, but may not publish your images, audio and video as well as texts in commercial contexts.

In connection with submitting your contribution, regardless of whether it is licensed CC-BY or CC-BY-NC, you agree that the Nordiska museet may use your text and images in its own activities (e.g. in social media, exhibitions, in print and on the web). The Nordic Museum is not responsible for how third parties further use the material.

Nothing in this agreement restricts the User’s right to use their material.

Compensation for the User’s work is not paid.

The user is responsible for the fact that he/she is the author of his/her messages or that the copyright of the material has expired.

The User may not use Minnen to commit or incite crimes or disseminate messages that are otherwise inappropriate. For example, messages on Minnen must not contain:

Removal/hiding of a message can take place if a message is contrary to Swedish or European law, regulation, the terms of use for Minnen or if the Nordiska museet otherwise finds the message inappropriate.

Nordiska museet also has the right to terminate the User’s user authorization with immediate effect if it appears that the User has used Memories in violation of the terms of use. Decisions to remove or hide a message, or to terminate a User’s user access, do not need to be justified.
